TOWERS LAKE AND ICE: PATAGONIA, THE LAKE DISTRICT TO PAINE
Hiking / Trekking, Horseback Riding, Rafting, Mountain Biking, Kayaking, Rafting
15 days 2 - 8 guests
- See some of the most amazing scenery in the world!
- Hike in the stunning Torres del Paine National Park
- Explore the Lake District on foot, horseback, mountain bike, kayak and raft
This exciting multi-sport adventure takes us to Patagonia where we will not only see the quick flowing streams, turquoise mountain lakes, and snow capped peaks of the Lake District but the spectacular granite towers and glacial lakes in Torres del Paine National Park. Each day is an action-packed adventure among some of the most breath taking, spectacular scenery on this Earth!!
The Lake District is a region where azure, mirrored lakes hold the reflections of ice-capped volcanoes, ancient trees and, of course, the indomitable Andes. Among this startling beauty we will kayak in the fjords to explore the wildlife and immerse ourselves in the rich coastal culture found there. We'll mountain bike in beautiful native forests, raft in emerald waters and try our hand at rock climbing among impressive canyons all in the scenery reminiscent of the Swiss Alps, but on a much grander scale.
Torres del Paine is a destination that changes its visitors by setting standards of sheer sensory impact against which all other places are thereafter measured. Here are the Towers of Paine, and the rest of the Paine Massif truly one of the earthıs scenic masterpieces. These mountains are 8,000 to 10,000 ft. towers of pinkish-gray granite made exceptionally striking by caps of jet-black slate. Rising out of the Patagonian Ice Cap (third largest ice cap on Earth) these spires dominate every view in the park and seem to leap into the clouds from the floor of the valley. They are surrounded by a necklace of turquoise glacial lakes, seven glaciers, and beech forests. We will hike for five stupendous days and the views we encounter will be nothing short of awesome. We will come across herds of guanacos that allow us to get within a thrilling 15 yards. In addition to guanacos we will likely see the lesser rhea (American ostrich), red & gray foxes, condors, flamingos, and perhaps pumas (cougar).
The stunning natural beauty of The Lake District and Torres del Paine has made Patagonia an almost unequalled destination for hikers, explorers and adventurers alike which adds up to an unforgettable experience of a lifetime!
