Ayers Rock

  • view the spectacular Ayers Rock, Olgas and Kings Canyon
  • take an optional camel ride
  • climb up Ayers Rock and view the stunning landscape below
Ayers Rock, called Uluru by the local Aboriginal Tribe, rises 1,150 feet above ground with a circumference of 5 miles and is considered to be one of the greatest natural wonders of the world. This magnificent rock simply appears out the flat red landscape. Depending on the time of day it goes through a metamorphoses from the casting sun with shades of glowing reds to soft oranges to delicate lilacs. It is a courageous task to climb to its summit when the ascent is 1 mile and particularly steep in parts. The Olgas (Kata Tjuta) stand 656 feet taller than Ayers Rock and similarly rise abruptly out of a featureless plain. Many people find the Olgas to be more beautiful and impressive than Uluru. We will also visit Kings Canyon nestled in the George Gill Ranges.

Kangaroo Island, Australia's third largest island is a place of natural wonders. This Island is a display of the most exciting things that South Australia can offer. There are turquoise waters, dramatic cliffs and pristine beaches. Its rivers and inland seas support the myriads of pelicans and a really amazing concentration of animals. Not only will you see an abundance of kangaroos, but wallabies, koalas, penguins, rare sea lions and emus. There are also over a million sheep on the island.

Flinders Chase National Park, the largest national park in Southern Australia occupying the entire western end of the island. Much of the park is in its natural state, the animal and plant life are untainted by disease and predators. Its coasts, weatherworn by time and the elements are a haven for sea lions, sea eagles, osprey, and Cape Barren geese among many other species. Inland are kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, echidnas, bushtailed possums, the elusive platypus and well over 200 different species of birds, including rare cockatoo.
